FRAMING
While we don't offer framing directly, we understand the importance of finding the right frame for your piece of art. Bringing your art to life is a personal journey, and framing plays a pivotal role in enhancing that experience.
-
Gather Your Materials
You'll need a measuring tape or ruler, a pencil, and a piece of paper to note down your measurements.
-
Place the Painting on a Flat Surface
Lay the painting on a clean, flat surface. Canvas paintings aren't the easiest to keep flat, but try to make sure there are no wrinkles or folds in the painting that could affect your measurements. If you have anything to weigh down the corners, this always helps!
-
Measure the Width
Determine the width of the painting by measuring from the left edge to the right edge. Use your measuring tape or ruler to get an accurate measurement. Record this measurement
-
Measure the Height
Measure the height of the painting from the top edge to the bottom edge. Again, use your measuring tape or ruler to ensure accuracy. Record this measurement as well.
-
Check for Variations
To take into account any small variations in width/height, measure at three points along each edge to ensure accuracy. The shortest measurement will be the ones you need to take note of!
-
Add Allowance for Matting and Framing
If you're planning to include a mat and frame, add extra space to your measurements to account for these. Typically, you'll want to add around 1/8 to 1/4 inch to each side to accommodate the mat. For framing, add an additional allowance depending on the thickness of the frame.
-
Double-Check
Before finalizing your measurements, double-check them to ensure accuracy. It's better to be precise from the beginning to avoid any issues later on.
-
Communicate with the Framer
When you take your painting to the framer or order the frame, provide them with the accurate measurements you've taken. Be clear about any preferences you have regarding borders or framing, and the overall presentation of the artwork
All our paintings are approximately 10 inches (W) x 20 inches (L) andwill come with a white border that is approximately 1.5 inches (W), but there will be slight variations so we recommend that measurements are taken ahead of frame ordering using the video below.
